I know, it's been forever since I've posted. I've been feeling guilty about it, but a new job will do that to you! I figured I at least owe you a fun one then...Engine Room Sparkling Red NV from Australia.
By now everyone's had to have at least tried a sparkling shiraz, they've been around for quite some time. A lot of them are juicy, light treats that allows for a bit of palate cleansing and refreshment.
The Engine Room is a little different. It's a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. It has a vibrant dark color with a pretty hefty head. The aromatics are quite big, with dark fruits and herbs, mingling with mocha, plums and vanilla. The palate is super refreshing, a little spicy and dry. It is a pleasant surprise in a world of slightly sweet sparkling reds to find one that is not cloying!
It's a food friendly wine, so bring it to your next BBQ with a dish of deviled eggs! You'll be the hit....
OK So how in the hell can you do this and be so "present" during these trainings????? You must be like Martha Stewart;only needing 4 hours of sleep a night. I am going to use your advice in a plating up article I just read. You find a wine, you study it up. So, now I've "found" twenty or so wines and I will study them. I felt a bit rusty and crusty surrounded by the young folk but also confidant that I can do a superb job. I just am not really an oenophile yet, which doesn't mean I don't love wine.....thanks, you were a great teacher for these last three days.
